I always get asked what my favorite sessions to photograph are. Well, that my friends is a loaded question. Let me put it like this. I love photographing emotions. Those emotions could be love, excitement, and joy or sometimes they are exhaustion, relief, and chaos. People are used to putting on their pictures face when they are in front of a camera, and it is my job to spent an hour of so with my clients and do everything I possibly can to get rid of that camera smile we all know so well…I truly believe it is my job to pull emotions out of people and capture them so that when they look back 20 years from now they remember exactly what they were feeling at that exact moment.
So my favorite sessions are emotional ones, ones full of laughs and smiles..embraces and love.
I bet you didn’t know that I become the worst impromptu stand up comic during sessions, sometimes the most random things come out of my mouth. There are not many things I won’t do to try to evoke that genuine laugh or emotion during a session. If that means making a total fool out of myself then so be it, but if means someone gets a fabulous picture with a genuine expression than it is all worth it.
You want to know the real truth. I always wish that I had that desire to just take my camera out and photograph random things such a buildings, and flowers, and trees. But the truth is, that is the hardest thing for me to do, and I think that I finally figured it out the real reason why.
