I am going to have to give you a little back story before I can get into the juicy details of the proposal.

Austin and I met in high school. I moved schools in April of my Junior year from Cy-Falls to Magnolia. I thought my life was ending. Seriously. Everything I worked so hard for that felt like the world was going to be gone in an instant and I would have to start all over. For those of you that don’t know I was super involved in FFA. Lucky me when I moved I got put into 2 Ag classes. 1st period was the Intro to Ag class with all freshman (remember I was a Junior), and 2nd period was fishing class (yep, Magnolia High School had a pond). Fast forward to second period, class empties out I stay in the same seat right at the front of class of course, and a new class comes in. I remember seeing this one boy walk in and sit in the front corner. When I got home that night my mom asked if there were any cute boys at school, I told her this one but he didn’t talk to me at all.

Finally after a couple of weeks it happened, that quiet boy in the corner talked to me. His name was Austin. Austin spent 6 months chasing after me and finally succeeded in September of our Senior year.

Look how cute we were at homecoming 😀 oh and how young Austin looks.

We dated for 4 1/2 years before he finally popped the big question.

I can remember the day like it was yesterday. I was sitting there working when I received this random text “lets go take bluebonnet pictures this weekend.” We had always talked about doing this but just never got around to it. He knew that when he proposed there had to be 3 conditions, 1. my hair must be done 2. my nails must be done, and 3. there has to be pictures. Whoa, I promise y’all I am not that superficial, I just knew if he didn’t figure out a way to do this I would probably be wearing a t shirt and shorts because thats about all my post college wardrobe consisted of.

The day rolled around and we got all ready and went and found the perfect spot of bluebonnets, set up my camera got everything ready…and then I endured the longest 5 minutes of my life. I tried for the life of me to set us up and get the camera just right and it was just not happening. Finally Austin got down on one knee and asked me to marry him, only one little problem. He left the ring in his pocket, so he had to dig it out and finally I got to see it!! It was gorgeous. Of course I said yes! In my excitement I jumped into his arms to hug him and managed to rip my dress. Luckily I had a back up in the car.

KMD_0480PinThisKMD_0540PinThisI was so excited I was speechless.

Make sure you stop by next week as I dig into actually planning the big day and how to handle that big question “When are you getting married???”

Comment with any questions you have so I can make sure I answer them as I write future posts.

It has officially been a little over a year since I married the best man in the entire world, sorry ladies if you thought you found him, you really didn’t because  the best man in the entire world is already taken 😉 My wedding planning journey was a once in a lifetime experience, well I guess you could call it an experience. It was more like a roller coaster, and since I am being completely honest with you, at times it felt like the roller coaster from hell.

It has taken me a full year to process everything and be able to finally sit down and write about my experience. There are so many things I wish someone would have told me so I want to help you out and share some of the things I learned. Although I am a wedding photographer in Montgomery,TX and I work in this industry, I made it my goal to plan my wedding just like any of my brides would plan theirs, with the use of my little friend Google and a whole lot of Pinterest…and don’t forget the huge Bridal Extravaganza. I learned so many things along the way and it completely changed the way I run my business and how I deal with my own brides.

Over the next few months you will hear about all kinds of wedding planning goodness and I will take you through my own journey of planning my wedding. I will tell you all of the juicy details from the amazing parts to the stressful parts, and even how I cried over cake. Yep thats right, planning a wedding will make you do crazy things like cry because you just can’t decide what you want your cake to look like!

I will also be sharing some of my wedding pictures with you so you, so make sure you check back every Tuesday. I would love to hear some of your questions or thing you want answers to. Leave your questions and remarks in the comments section below and I will make sure I answer each and every one of your questions.

If you want to make sure you are the first to see future blog posts when they are up make sure you comment on this post and leave your email to subscribe to weekly emails with blog updates. *There will also be special giveaways through the series based on blog post comments so don’t miss out!!*

PS. You may also get to hear from my Hubby and some of my fave wedding vendors.

…but until then I will leave you with our first official family picture//our one year anniversary picture from the amazing Robyn Arouty Photography.

  • LaLainya Brown - My wedding will be in East Texas in December. I’ve got all these ideas running through my head but can’t seem to make a cohesive theme. I know what colors I want and the overall theme but I seem to be purchasing things at random. I wanted to hire a wedding planner but can’t the one I want to respond. I’m already a bit overwhelmed and I don’t even have to do anything for the ceremony and reception because we’re purchasing a package. I guess I just need some direction.

I am so excited to announce some exciting new things that are coming in 2015. 2014 has been a busy year, from building a newborn photography studio in Montgomery,TX to adding over 70 people to what I like to call my Designs by Karinda family. I seriously love my clients so much and I am thankful for each and every one of you.

You want to check out some of the new things happening in 2015.

1. More Wall Art Options. I have spent the past few months researching and ordering a ton of fun and new exiting products to offer to my clients. Some new things include 100+ year archival prints on fine art paper, metallic canvas gallery wraps, and even some special wooden canvas wall art. I am the most excited to announce that all wall art will come ready to hang up the minute it arrives! All prints are now framed and you will have variety of framing options for your wall portraits.

2. Albums. Albums. Albums. Oh I can’t even express how excited I am for these new Acrylic Cover Albums, they are gorgeous. Your images will also be displayed beautifully inside of these new albums, guess what they are printed on?! SILK, thats right. SILK. The are gorgeous and luxurious, I can’t wait for all of you to see them. No worries, if you loved my linen albums they are here to stay as well 😉

3. Session availability. I will only be accepting a total of 10 weddings this year, and guess what? 8 of those spots are already full so that means there are only 2 more openings for 2015 weddings. There will be 3 openings each month for newborns, and 2 openings for any other session type (engagements, bridals, maternity, families, etc.). The months of January and February are already completely booked, and there is only one more opening in March. It is super important that you schedule your sessions 3-4 months in advance.

4. Pre-Session Consultations. Before you book your session I want to meet with you in person at my studio and go over everything you need to know about your session. I want to help you plan what you will wear, the location, and any other details that will need to be figured out prior to your session. I also want to hear what your goals are for the session, do you want art to display on the walls of your home, or a gorgeous hand made album to share with friends and family? I want to know all of these things and help make your session perfect for you.

5. Mini Sessions. I get emails about Mini Sessions quite a bit throughout the year. There will be two mini session events this year. Fall Minis in October and Styled Kids Christmas Minis in November. Session dates will be released in early September and there will only be 5 openings for each event.  If you want to make sure you are notified when the sessions are released email me at mini@clientlounge.designsbykarinda.com

6. I can’t tell you about this one quite yet. But if you have kiddos you will not want to miss my huge announcement in June. It is going to blow your socks off, seriously.

To schedule your 2015 session email me at info@clientlounge.designsbykarinda.com.

Make sure you sign up for our mailing list here so that you are notified of all future events.

xoxo from my family to yours.

Fisher, you are just the cutest longest legged baby ever. I just can’t get enough. I am so thankful that I get to have such amazing clients that bring their babies in and trust me to capture the most precious moments. They are only newborns for such a small period of time and they change so quickly. I can’t stress enough how important it is to bring your little ones in for Newborn pictures when they are 7-10 days old, by the time I see these babies again at their ordering consultation for their picture they have already changed so much and they are still only 4-5 weeks old at that time.

I probably don’t talk about it nearly enough, but I am loving my Montgomery,TX newborn photography studio so much. It is so nice to have everything I could ever need right there within arms reach. Oh and the huge comfy leather sofas for new parents to relax and sometime even get a nap in.

I so enjoyed photographing Heather and Zach’s wedding at Moffitt Oaks in Tomball,TX. They didn’t let a little rain on their wedding day put a damper on anything, they even braved it outside to get their pictures done before the ceremony. They do say that rain on your wedding day is a sign of good luck so I guess they just got a little extra luck 😉

I love every single detail from this Moffitt Oaks Barn wedding, Heather’s dress was simply perfection. The lace and simplicity with the sparkly belt was the perfect fit for Heather. The bridesmaids wore navy lace dresses, it was a little twist on the traditional bridesmaid dress. I actually did something very similar in my own wedding, I went shopping at Nordstroms and found my bridesmaids lace dresses too. Coral made for the perfect pop of color against the navy. I am adoring all of these navy wedding color pallets. I have had quite a few weddings this year with navy bridesmaid dresses and this is a trend I defiantly don’t mind staying around for a while.
